Ultramarathon Runner Andy Glaze’s Gruesome Foot Injuries
Andy Glaze, an experienced ultramarathon runner and firefighter from California, recently took to TikTok to show off his decimated toes following a grueling 65-mile race across sand in the desert.
His flappy toenails and vascular, torn apart foot left many viewers wincing and concerned for his wellbeing.
An Experienced Endurance Athlete
Andy, who had already clocked 520 miles running on Strava by April 26, is no stranger to endurance sport.
Ultramarathons, races that are longer than a standard 26.2 mile marathon, are his specialty, and he has already completed four since mid-January 2023.
His next challenge will be the Cocodona 250 in Black Canyon City to Flagstaff, Arizona, a 250-mile race that is known as one of the toughest on Earth.
The Toll on His Toes
Despite his experience and training, Andy’s recent 65-mile race in the desert took a toll on his feet.
In the TikTok video, his toenails flap around on his worn-out toes like flags in the wind, and he expresses a desire to have them all taken out.
Although some viewers suggested this as a solution to avoid future pain and headache, Andy’s nails will grow back.
The Resilience of an Athlete
Despite his gruesome injuries, Andy remained in good spirits, joking that his toe would “buff out” and making light of the situation.
His determination and resilience as an athlete are evident in his continued participation in ultramarathons, despite the toll they take on his body.
