A fire outbreak occurred on Thursday night at the office of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The incident, which started around 8pm, specifically affected the ICT section of the FCTA complex.
The sudden fire triggered the fire alarm and caused panic among staff members.
Prompt action was taken as the FCT Federal Fire Service swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire by approximately 8:35 pm.
However, significant damage had already been inflicted upon the ICT section of the Administration’s office.
Abass Idriss, the Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, revealed that investigations were underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Preliminary suspicions point towards an electrical power surge as a possible trigger.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or injuries resulting from the incident.
Idriss stated, “Yes, the fire began at 8pm and was put out immediately.
There was no loss of life, no injuries, and nobody was hurt.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but we are suspecting an electrical surge.”
Amiola Adebayo, the Head of Operations of the FCT Fire Service, corroborated the findings, confirming that the fire was indeed caused by an electrical power surge in the ICT section of the building.
Adebayo reassured that the situation was under control and the fire had been successfully extinguished.
“The fire is not significant; it is already under control.
It was a small spark, and we have managed to put it out.
It was caused by an electric power surge, but we have already extinguished it,” he explained.
