The incident occurred on April 11 when Clark, driving a Toyota RAV4, crashed into Mrs. Sharp.

However, she managed to push her baby’s pram to safety before the collision.

Victim’s Critical Condition and Charges

Mrs. Sharp, in her 30s, sustained a life-threatening injury and remains unconscious in a critical condition at the hospital, as disclosed during the proceedings at Bournemouth Crown Court.

Clark pleaded guilty to the charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.

However, he denies allegations of drink-driving and drug driving, specifically related to cocaine use.

Denial of Drink and Drug Driving Charges

Clark’s barrister, Nick Robinson, stated that his client maintains he was not under the influence of alcohol or cocaine at the time of the offenses.

The defense argues that any consumption occurred after the incident.

Judge William Mousley KC explained that the charges of drink and drug driving would need to be addressed in the magistrates’ court and adjourned the case until these charges could be transferred accordingly.

Victim’s Condition and Prospects for Recovery

Providing an update on Mrs. Sharp’s condition, prosecutor Andrew Houston informed the court that she remains unconscious and has not shown significant signs of response.

Although she has opened her eyes and moved her lips, her awareness seems limited.

Medical scans have been conducted to assess her condition and rule out any seizures. The prosecutor explained that it is still early in her recovery, and the consultant expects changes to occur within six months.

Sentencing and Driving Ban

Judge Mousley imposed a driving ban on Clark and adjourned the case for a further hearing on June 20.

He informed the defendant that he would remain in custody during this period and officially disqualified him from driving.
