The leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Jane Dodds MS, expressed her disappointment that no group leader in the Senedd addressed the damning Prosiect Pawb report on Plaid Cymru’s culture during Adam Price’s final speech as party leader.
Despite allegations of bullying, harassment, and misogyny within the party, Mr. Price bid farewell in an eight-minute speech that made no reference to these issues.
First Minister Mark Drakeford and Senedd Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies paid tribute to Mr. Price but did not mention the report.
Expectation for Men in Politics to Defend Women
Jane Dodds MS, on the S4C program Y Byd yn ei Le, voiced her expectation for men in politics to defend women and address such issues.
She expressed disappointment that Adam Price, Mark Drakeford, and Andrew RT Davies did not discuss the report or speak out against the mistreatment experienced by women in politics.
Dodds emphasized that it is the responsibility of all individuals, especially men, to take a stand against such behavior.
Alun Davies MS Finds Adam Price’s Silence “Odd”
Welsh Labour MS Alun Davies also found it “odd” that Adam Price MS did not mention the report in his speech.
While acknowledging that Price spoke well and looked towards his own future, Davies emphasized the importance of addressing the future of the party as well.
Interim Leader Defends Adam Price’s Previous Apologies
Llyr Gruffydd MS, the interim leader for Plaid Cymru, defended Adam Price, stating that Price had previously apologized to the media and the party’s ruling body.
Gruffydd highlighted Price’s eloquent discussion of the issues at hand during his address to the National Council.
