— Cape Town Despite the fact that the Stormers received two yellow cards, one red card, and committed numerous errors in the first half of their United Rugby Championship match against Edinburgh, head coach John Dobson was satisfied with the team’s display of spirit.
Three times in round three, the reigning champions were reduced to 14 men, but they battled back from a 10-7 halftime deficit to secure their second consecutive victory with bonus points.
The Stormers got the first week off.
Even though flyhalf Manie Libbok, No. 8 Evan Roos, and replacement prop Sazi Sandi all received yellow cards, the Stormers were able to earn the victory.
The Cape side played poorly in the first half, while Edinburgh was outstanding, although they were unable to convert their control into significant points.
However, the second half was drastically different as the Stormers fought back.
Dobson stated after the game that while he would have preferred a stronger first half effort, despite their losses and early difficulties, the manner in which they finished the contest was encouraging.
“I believe our discipline was comparable to the week before. We begin to give away defensive penalties, so it’s more that than foul play,” he explained.
Again, our character is… that was very similar to previous week. It is difficult to defend maul after maul, but I believe we shown exceptional character.
We could have worked harder at the beginning of the game, but I’m not upset with my team’s discipline in any way.
The Stormers’ next road opponent is Zebre Parma on October 8.
