Holidaymakers are facing long lines again this morning as Britain’s airports and Eurostar are both experiencing major delays – and Britons are being advised to just bring carry-on luggage to prevent losing their belongings.
Hundreds of travellers’ travel plans for the four-day Jubilee festivities have been thrown into chaos following a’shambolic’ week of flight cancellations as Britain’s travel hubs continue to be wracked by a staffing shortage.
Following reports of a person being hit by a train, Eurostar services have also experienced substantial delays this morning. All routes to Paris are now delayed due to traffic disruptions between Lille and Calais.
The Eurostar has been experiencing delays of roughly two hours each way so far, with all of today’s trains being affected.
Families have been urged to pack light and only bring a knapsack of essentials to prevent more delays and uncomfortably lengthy lines, which means they will have to buy toiletries and clothing while on vacation.
Britons returning from vacations have complained of ‘three-hour delays’ and ‘abandoned luggage’ left in’stacks’ in baggage reclaim areas across the UK. Some passengers have also claimed that their luggage has been ‘distributed to another airport,’ while others have reported their luggage missing entirely.
Due to the termination of Covid restrictions, which encouraged more people to travel during the four-day bank holiday weekend, the airport mayhem has been dubbed the “perfect storm” by travel experts.
Today’s travelers face even more travel mayhem, with extremely long lines at Bristol and Manchester Airports as early as 4 a.m. As the bank holiday Jubilee break begins today, armed police were also seen monitoring the check-in area at Manchester airport.
