‘Don’t grow used to our pain,’ says Ukraine’s First Lady to the West.

Before being interrupted by blaring air raid sirens during her first-ever one-on-one interview since the start of the war in her country, Ukraine’s first lady appealed to America and the world not to become accustomed to her country’s suffering.

‘Do not become accustomed to this battle.’ The conflict could be taking place thousands of miles away. There are a few far-flung territories… But don’t get used to it,’ Olena Zelenska urged to Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts as she was overcome with emotion.

‘If we don’t, we risk having a never-ending war,’ she said.

As the war approaches its fourth month and leaves a path of death and damage in its wake, Zelenska conveyed a passionate message to the West through a translator.

The discussion was abruptly interrupted when raid sirens sounded, prompting Zelenska and Roberts to take a break and burrow down.

‘Let’s hope it’s just a false alarm,’ Zelenska grumbled, her demeanor unfazed by the new normal in the besieged country.

The 30-minute sit-down interview was resumed as Ukraine’s first lady appeared ready to disclose the brutal realities of the ongoing conflict, which the Kremlin initiated in February.
