Tanker slides into 20ft abyss while pumping sewage from clogged line

Just a few metres from a primary school, a big truck hauling loads of sewage fell into the road after being sucked up by a sinkhole.

The enormous water tanker overturned as its wheels sunk into a 20-foot hole on a road near Wokingham, Berkshire, while transporting thousands of gallons of garbage.

On Friday evening, police and fire services were sent right away to the location where they blocked off the road and puzzled over how to free the multi-ton truck from the sinkhole.

Workers from Thames Water were attending to a clogged sewer when the fall occurred.

The large tanker was requested by the water company to help remove the bad water that had accumulated and clogged the pipes.

Thank goodness the event took place after school hours and no students were hurt.

Workers have predicted that a massive crane would be needed to get the tanker out of the ditch since they think it could remain there until Tuesday.

If students from Evendons Primary School would be turned away tomorrow has not yet been announced.

Additionally, there are worries that other sections of Evendons Lane may crumble beneath the crane’s weight, particularly if it attempted to pull out the tanker.

There have previously been sink holes in the road, but nothing as serious as the most recent occurrence, according to a local.

According to a Thames Valley Police spokeswoman, while police oversaw the road closure, Thames Water and the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service now handle the emergency.
