Mother who left her kid at home to die in 27-degree heat sold its clothing on Facebook

A cannabis-smoking mother who left her infant at home to die in 27C temps afterwards sold the deceased child’s clothing and money box on Facebook.

In June 2018, Stacey Davis, 35, abandoned her one-year-old son Ethan in his cot as she conducted errands and visited a park near her house in Melksham, Wiltshire.

Following Ethan’s passing, his disgraced mother posted his belongings and clothing for sale on Facebook.

She sold a money box titled “Little Man’s Savings” for for £5.

The wicked mother also sold a collection of baby garments sized 3-6 months, small baby outfits, and two all-in-one sleepsuits, one of which was labeled Ted Baker.

Stacey Davis, age 35, left her one-year-old son in his cot for two hours as she conducted errands and visited a park near her Melksham, Wiltshire, home.

The mother began selling the deceased infant’s clothing about November 29, 2019.

As temperatures surged, Ethan was locked in a room with no open windows and no fan as the temperature rose.

According to his mother, he suffered a broken skull from a fall, but an autopsy was unable to determine the cause of death.

Davis, who frequently used marijuana around her kid, did not check on him for at least a half-hour after getting home. The court heard that she began messaging a friend instead.

When she eventually entered Ethan’s room, she saw him motionless and lifeless in his cot.

Davis attempted to sell baby clothing for for £20.

Additionally, the mother attempted to sell a baby’s money box for £5. On the back, it stated, “Save some pennies to spend everything on yourself.”

The child was transported to the Royal United Hospital in Bath on June 27, 2018, but was subsequently confirmed dead.

After pleading guilty on December 1, 2022, she was sentenced to two years in jail for child abuse.

Luke Turvey, the father of Ethan, applauded the conviction of his former partner.

He said on Facebook, “Today, after four and a half years, Stacey Davis has been sentenced to two years in prison for cruelty and negligence against my son Ethan.”

My family and I am ecstatic that she finally received what she deserved. And for those who supported and defended her, I hope you feel like total and utter morons and that you are ashamed of yourselves, because she is a child abuser who has paid the price by going to prison.’

The prosecutor, Simon Jones, previously told the court that a post-mortem investigation confirmed that Ethan had suffered a major head injury – a 15-centimeter skull fracture – but that the cause of death remained unknown.

Davis informed police officers that her kid had fallen to the floor and struck his head, but despite the swelling, bruises, and evident suffering, she did not take him to the hospital.

Davis attempted to market numerous garments, including a Ted Baker all-in-one.

She sold the clothing and money box of her deceased son on Facebook.

Mr. Jones stated, “Any normal parent would have observed the anguish and sought medical care.”

Nicola Anderson, a forensic investigator, found that Ethan’s hair contained a significant amount of cannabis.

She stated that this was consistent with Davis often smoking the narcotic around Ethan.

Davis’s attorney, Mark Ashley, stated that her condition was a “typical example of postpartum depression.”

Ethan was delivered early through caesarean and had emergency colon surgery, resulting in a two-month hospital stay.

Mr. Ashley informed the court that Davis struggled to bond with Ethan and had relationship and financial troubles.

She attributed her rare hospital visits on her difficulty to arrange rides from family.

Mr. Ashley continued, “Not only was she suffering from it, but she was also coping with it improperly by using marijuana.”

Then, Judge Richard Parkes, KC, interfered, remarking, “It was terribly foolish; do it outdoors.”

Mr. Ashley also described how Davis was afraid to take Ethan to the hospital after social services withdrew him from her care for a suspected fractured leg.

Davis (seen in front of Salisbury Crown Court) has been given a two-year jail sentence for child abuse.

Davis told officers that her kid had fallen and struck his head on the floor, but despite the swelling, bruises, and evident suffering, she did not take him to the hospital.

Ethan was restored to her care after it was determined that the injury did not exist and there was no proof of misconduct.

He told the court that Davis had been working with Turning Point to stop her cannabis usage, but had smoked it that week because of her “very high stress levels.”

Mr. Ashley urged the judge to consider a suspended sentence, stating, “Everyone involved is attempting to rebuild their lives, and so is she.”

The issue has plagued her for years, and she is quite concerned about being taken into jail.

Before sentencing Davis to two years in jail, however, Judge Parkes, KC, characterized her conduct as “thoroughly selfish.”

He stated to the defendant, “There is no proof that you or his father caused Ethan’s death, nor is there any insinuation that you did.” As Ethan’s mother, you have, sadly, fallen woefully short of your obligations.

One to three weeks before to his demise, he had a 15cm skull fracture, most likely due to a forceful blow to the head.

You neglected to seek medical assistance for his head injuries. Normal parents would prioritize their child’s health above anything else. It is evident that you abandoned him twice, including on the day of his death.

Before sentencing Davis, Judge Parkes, KC, characterized her conduct as “completely selfish.”

This is made worse by the fact that it occurred twice. You left Ethan alone in his crib in a windowless room. At one time, you sat on a bench, took [a child] to the park, and went shopping.

You took your vehicle to the car wash on the way back. It is evident that you were not in a rush.

“What is so abhorrent about this incident is that you spent half an hour on the phone sending and receiving messages [when you returned home] before checking on Ethan.

You hadn’t seen him or checked on him in over three hours.

Following her conviction, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker of Wiltshire Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team expressed his sympathies to the boy’s family.

Davis’s actions on the day her son died fell well short of the obligation she owed him as his mother – she should have loved him, cared for him, and placed his welfare first, as any doting parent would.

“It has been almost four years since he passed away, and I am aware that this has been a very tough period for all those who knew and loved him.

The investigative team has worked diligently on what has been a difficult and distressing matter, and their efforts have meant that it has now to a conclusion.
