Senator Godswill Akpabio’s associate, Dr Jibril Tafida, has expressed his disagreement with Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who suggested that Akpabio may face opposition from fellow lawmakers and may not win the Senate Presidency.
Dr Tafida dismissed Bwala’s viewpoint as overly simplistic, asserting that Bwala lacks a comprehensive understanding of Akpabio’s political expertise and astuteness.
Akpabio’s Existing Support from Lawmakers
Tafida emphasized that Akpabio, a former Minister of the Niger Delta, already enjoys significant support from lawmakers who have publicly expressed their loyalty to him long before the Senate Presidency became a prominent topic in the media.
Specifically, Dr Tafida pointed to the unwavering support of Senator Ali Ndume, renowned for his assertive approach, as one of the lawmakers solidly backing Akpabio’s bid for the Senate Presidency.
He stated, “Look at Senator Ali Ndume, known for his no-nonsense approach.
He has been firmly supporting Akpabio’s Senate bid since day one, and so have all the other lawmakers.
Bwala has completely misunderstood the situation.”
Akpabio’s Strong Position and Public Opinion
Tafida further argued that Bwala should not conveniently forget that Senator Akpabio remains the leading contender for the Senate Presidency, both within the party and in the court of public opinion.
He added that Akpabio’s bid is “unstoppable,” citing the support of 60 Senators who have publicly demonstrated their backing by signing in favor of Akpabio.
In conclusion, Dr Jibril Tafida refutes Daniel Bwala’s doubts and emphasizes Senator Godswill Akpabio’s strong position in the race for the Senate Presidency, highlighting the existing support from lawmakers and the overwhelming public opinion in Akpabio’s favor.
