Mick Fleetwood’s Heartbreak as Wildfires Consume His Restaurant in Maui
Mick Fleetwood, the iconic drummer of Fleetwood Mac, has expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his restaurant, Fleetwood’s On Front Street, to the raging wildfires that have swept across Maui, Hawaii.
Fueled by dry conditions and strong winds from an approaching hurricane, the wildfire erupted on Tuesday, leaving destruction in its wake as it tore through Maui, engulfing any structures unfortunate enough to lie in its path.
Mick Fleetwood, born in Redruth, Cornwall, shared his sentiments on social media, releasing a statement about the devastating impact of the fires.
He stated, “Maui and the Lahaina community have been my home for several decades.
This is a devastating moment for Maui, and many are suffering unimaginable loss.
Fleetwood’s On Front Street has been lost, and while we are heartbroken, our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members.”
Fleetwood went on to say, “On behalf of myself and my family, I share my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the people of Maui.
We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days, months, and years to come.”
Fleetwood’s On Front Street was renowned for its rooftop bar, providing patrons with stunning ocean views and delectable American cuisine.
Unfortunately, a banner on the restaurant’s website now states that the establishment will be closed until further notice.
Tragically, this wildfire marks one of the deadliest incidents of its kind in the US since the 2018 Camp Fire in California, which claimed the lives of at least 85 people and left the town of Paradise in ruins.
Responding to the dire situation, officials have transformed the Hawaii Convention Centre in Honolulu into an assistance center to aid both tourists and locals affected by the disaster.
Taking note of the calamity, US President Joe Biden declared a major disaster in Maui and extended his condolences to those impacted.
Through a social media post, he conveyed his sentiments, saying, “Jill and I send our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the wildfires in Maui.
Our prayers are with those whose homes, businesses, and communities are destroyed.
We are grateful to the first responders putting themselves in harm’s way to save lives.”
Fleetwood Mac, the iconic band formed in the 1960s, is renowned for its timeless hits, including “Everywhere,” “Gypsy,” and “Dreams.”
The recent wildfire tragedy has not only impacted Mick Fleetwood personally but has also drawn attention to the devastating effects of the natural disaster on the community and environment.
