Renowned head chef Adejoke Bakare is excited to announce the opening of the second iteration of her celebrated restaurant, Chishuru.
Following the closure of the original Brixton location, Bakare has unveiled plans for the new establishment situated in the heart of Fitzrovia.
The reopening is set for September 18, and diners can once again savor the beloved cassava fritters and beef shin broth that garnered widespread acclaim.
The new restaurant in Fitzrovia boasts a seating capacity for 54 diners, aiming to offer an intimate and delightful culinary experience.
Chishuru’s hallmark set menus for lunch and dinner will be available, priced at £35 and £65 respectively.
Bakare and her business partner, Matt Paice, expressed their enthusiasm about the upcoming venture, stating, “We’re thrilled to announce that we finally have an opening date for our restaurant in Fitzrovia.
We’ll be trading for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday.”
Chishuru originally made its mark in Brixton in 2020, quickly amassing positive reviews and accolades.
Just recently, renowned food critic Jimi Famurewa from the Standard listed the restaurant in his top 10 establishments in London.
He praised Bakare’s culinary prowess, describing her ability to infuse dishes with “barrelling spice and unforgettable, multilayered flavor.”
Moreover, Chishuru has played a pivotal role in elevating West African cuisine within London’s culinary scene, shedding light on a rich culinary tradition that had previously been underrepresented.
The upcoming menu at the Fitzrovia location promises a delightful array of dishes that reflect Bakare’s culinary expertise.
Among the offerings are moi moi, a delectable bean cake served with trout roe and a duck egg sauce; mbongo tchobi, featuring cod fillet with spiced black sauce and wilted greens; and egusi, a creative dish comprising grilled cabbage stuffed with caramelized shallots, utazi leaf, and a wild watermelon seed sauce.
Chishuru’s new address is 3 Great Titchfield Street, W1W 8AX.
