Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) has called for a robust synergy among security agencies in tackling security challenges in the country.

The President of CSGGG, Chief Ogakwu Dominic, stated this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

He said that the lack of inter-agency collaboration was part of the reasons why insurgency persisted in the country.

Dominic said that there was a need for synergy between the military and paramilitary organisations in stemming the tide of insecurity in Nigeria.

According to him, the non – kinetic approach to the fight against terrorism excludes direct or conventional military strategies.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Dominic was reacting to the alleged connivance of some personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS ) with inmates in terrorism financing of proscribed members of terrorist organisations.

He said such highly intelligent information plays a major role in the overall management of people’s security architecture.

Dominic said such information should be shared among security agencies, demonstrating inter-agency collaboration among government institutions.

According to him, the security agencies should have engaged the NCoS management discreetly to swing into investigation to fish out the culprits.

”Such information is equally a setback to the fight against insurgency.

“This is because coordination, management and utilisation of information is very key in waging the war against terrorists and other criminals,” he said.

Dominic commended the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who swung into action by launching an investigation against the officials of NCoS in order to fish out the culprits.

He also commended the Minister’s initiative to free 4,000 inmates in various custodial centres across the country as part of the ministry’s decongestion programme.

Dominic said this would reduce the pressure on the current manpower of the officers of the NCoS in order to discharge their functions excellently.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to support the initiative of previous administration to carryout massive infrastructural revolution of the nation’s correctional facilities.

Dominic urged the national assembly, to review their approach of interfacing on issues bothering on security, to avoid publicly divulging valuable information.

”Security is a collective business anchored on collaboration among the various security agencies, civil society, the media, and the coordinating Office of the National Security Adviser.

”As Nigerians, we wish to state that we can’t sit and watch the rooftop of a neighbor being razed down without attempting to put the fire off.

” It behooves on the Military to collaborate, investigate, synergise with the NCoS in stemming this ugly tide and save the nation from embarrassment.
