It will provide safer streets and protect animal welfare, according to Roads Minister Ben Carroll.
He stated, “We’ve heard the community’s concerns about horse-drawn carriages, and this proposal will improve safety for everyone on some of our busiest streets.”
‘To ensure animal care and safety across the sector, we will continue to cooperate with our road safety partners, the RSPCA, and the community.’
Lord Mayor Sally Capp claims it will improve safety on some of Melbourne’s busiest roadways and allow for better horse-drawn carriage management.
‘We recognize that road and walkway space in the Hoddle Grid is limited, which is why we must keep people moving as efficiently as possible,’ she explained.
