A Yola Based NGO advocates for Women participation in Politics

The need for women to actively participate in politics so that their voice could be heard has again been stressed.

The project officer Dandalin Mata, a platform established by a non-governmental organization, Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment Yola Mrs, Mary Danbaji gave the charge during an advocacy visit to song.

She explained that the overall objective of the project is to encourage women and youths into politics as well as promote Women’s Rights.

The project officer added that it is also to encourage Women to have meaningful inputs on decision making process on local issues and help identify and undertake appropriate solutions.

She advised the participants to register and obtain voters card for them to exercise their civic right.

Mary Danbaji said Women also have a role to play as they are majority.

She said the project when fully implemented will promote favourable political environment and ensure absence of Gender Based Violence, and Discrimination against women.

Speaking, a Human Rights Desk Officer, Nuwama Ishaku Markus urged women to come together and voice out their problem.
