A well-known free climber who has scaled some of the highest structures in the world, the guy who was seen climbing The Shard in London this morning.
Adam Lockwood, a 21-year-old daredevil, is said to have successfully climbed the tallest building in the UK this morning about 5 a.m. before snapping a photo at the structure’s pinnacle.
At 5.48 this morning, emergency services were summoned in because to reports of a climber on The Shard.
Three arrests, according to the police, have been made. This includes the trespass-related arrest of a 21-year-old guy.
On suspicion of making a public disturbance, two other guys were each taken into custody. At this point, everyone is still in custody.
The London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and the Metropolitan Police all flocked to the site in an effort to rescue the victim.
Rail passengers at the adjacent London Bridge station were directed to different exits while the area around the foot of The Shard was sealed off.
Lockwood, a Manchester native, posted the photo of himself gazing out at the London skyline while standing topless and without shoes.
He can be seen in the photo wearing a headcam, which is thought to have recorded the ascent.
The free climber has scaled numerous enormous structures around the world, including hanging from the rafters of Milan’s 262-foot-tall San Siro Stadium, performing pull-ups at the end of a 1,115-foot-tall beam at a power plant in Croatia, and disguising himself as a worker to climb a 1,200-foot crane in Dubai.
The Burj Khalifa, the highest structure in the world, is just next to the Il Primo in Dubai. After the ascent, Lockwood described the feeling as “calm.”
In order to prevent himself from falling, he refuses to employ any safety devices, relying instead on his grasp and upper body strength.
The British adrenaline addict videotaped himself hanging over the Milan stadium’s sets in April of this year.
While risking his life by hanging from the metal girders at incredible heights and using just his arms to bring himself back up, he exhibits no fear in his video.
The thrill seeker was previously prohibited from scaling big structures by a court, but he disobeyed the ruling and barely avoided going to prison.
In July 2019, the Manchester City Council issued a three-year anti-social behaviour injunction order on Lockwood.
He was not allowed to access construction sites in England or Wales, ride on the outside of buses, trams, or trains, or climb on buildings or cranes.
Lockwood previously stated: “Hanging off objects doesn’t seem like much, it is odd to be hung so high without any safety, but like all my other hangs, my head is blank, my pulse doesn’t go up, and it feels almost serene.”
I feel obligated to utilise my skill and enjoy the process since I know I can accomplish something that 99.9% of the world cannot and will never be able to.
I don’t believe I can give it up since it has kept me alive since I began. “I enjoy viewing things from heights, I love having my body hung hundreds of metres in the sky, and I love the trials of penetrating safe areas to accomplish these aims.”
People have attempted to climb the enormous skyscraper before.
George King-Thompson, a then-teenager, breached the law in 2019 by scaling the structure.
In barely 45 minutes, he had almost reached the top of the skyscraper by climbing it with his bare hands.
Mr. King-Thompson received a six-month term at a facility for juvenile offenders.
