Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board Yola in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC Abuja has organised a six-day training for Basic Education Quality Assurance Department for SUBEB and Local government education authorities in Adamawa.
The workshop with the theme effective school evaluation: panacea for improving learning outcomes and strengthening of the school system is taking place at Fadfatis event center Yola.
Declaring the workshop open, the Adamawa state Commissioner of Education and human capital development Mrs Willbina Jackson said the training and re-training of teachers is top most priority of Fintiri led administration.
She urged the participants to use the knowledge they are going to acquire for the improvement of basic education in Adamawa.
In his remark, the Chairman Adamawa state Universal basic education board Doctor Salihi Ibrahim represented by the permanent member two of the Board Mr Adiel Kurda reiterated the support of the board to ensuring quality of education adding the training will go a long way in addressing problems of education especially at basic level.
He appealed to the participants to pay attention and make good use of the knowledge acquired at the end of the workshop.
Also speaking, the Director Quality Assurance, UBEC Mallam Mansir Idris who was represented by the UBEC state Coordinator Hajiya Amina D Tafida said the training is a follow-up to the last training conducted by the Commission saying it was meant to equip the officers with basic knowledge and skills for effectiveness in the learning at basic levels.
He said the training will improve the capacity of Quality assurance officers at the SUBEB and Local government levels.
Some Participants in an interview with ABC Yola reporter described the training as timely and pledged to make good use of the knowledge acquired.
