Adelaide resident finds hidden burglar code on house

After unexplained black marks were discovered written on houses in an Australian neighbourhood, a resident discovered a “secret code employed by criminals.”

A resident of Adelaide reported seeing two distinct patterns that had “appeared overnight” in three separate locations on their property: the fence, a gutter pipe, and the back entry of their house.

On Sunday, the worried homeowner posted images of the marks on Reddit, showing two areas of the property etched with four straight parallel lines and another area painted with the initials “NT.”

The homeowner also found the letters 'NT' marked on his property (pictured). Reddit users confirmed the letters indicated the property had no security and was  'No Threat' to a burglar

They saw identical inscriptions on mailboxes and both corner homes on their street, with one house having a “s” inscribed on it.

The householder requested Reddit users for assistance in unravelling the enigma and if it may have been a part of a thieves’ code.

The homeowner said, “Found them marked on our fence and rear door access.”

They emerged out of nowhere. Thoughts? Could the home be a target for theft?

The homeowner said they often passed by the marks before discovering them, thus they were difficult to detect.

A front high walled garden hides the access to our front door. The front entrance is inaccessible from the street,’ they stated.

“You must use a gate” (where the markings are). The entry via the rear door is open and unlocked.

The only apparent but not immediately noticeable region was the four strike marks at the rear entryway.

They were the last ones we discovered. We often strolled by them without seeing them.

Reddit users chimed in on the discussion and suggested that a local graffiti artist was responsible for the marks, but this theory was quickly shot down.

Other users, however, immediately agreed that the marks were a code for nearby would-be robbers.

People trying to enter your property, I see. One user remarked, “NT Means no threat, S Equals security.”

The markings often indicate how many days they have been keeping an eye on your property or how frequently you utilise a certain entry each day.

Another user affirmed: “NT indicates “No Threat,” which implies that your security is nonexistent. Remove the marks as soon as possible.

After seeing further marks on nearby homes and a tree, the homeowner called the police to report the sightings.

Anyone who discovers marks like these is requested by the South Australian Police to come forward and report it.

If this has happened, South Australia Police urged anybody who discovers unusual marks on their property or witnesses someone behaving suspiciously to call the police and report the incident.
