An out-of-control client at McDonald’s went on a violent rampage, hurling food and spitting at employees while yelling profanities at them.
On Friday night at about 11:30 pm, video shows the unusual collapse at the fast food outlet in Hindley St, downtown Adelaide.
Reaching over the counter, the lady is seen grabbing food items that she then throws at the surprised employees.
Unknown to the shop manager on the phone, the lady yells, “You struck me in the face bro,” while dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms, a beige sweater, and white sneakers.
No, I did not, the manager responds.
The lady responds, “Yes, you f**king did, there’s a video you idiot f**k.”
The irate client jumps up at the counter and spits at the manager as he moves to the side of the shop.
The lady claims the shop manager smacked her in the face, but he vehemently denies it.
Josh Peak, the secretary of the Shopworkers Union, called the incident “appalling.”
No employee deserves to be treated this way when they are only carrying out their duties, Mr. Peak told Nine News.
“It is really abhorrent that certain members of the public believe it is OK to abuse a fast-food employee in this manner.”
Police responded to the scene and said that they are looking into the event, which one officer called “disgraceful.”
Attacks against store employees in South Australia now carry harsher sanctions, including a maximum seven-year prison sentence.
We will be requesting that the authorities investigate this thoroughly to see if they can make use of the newly granted powers, Mr. Peak added.
Despite the fact that the McDonald’s is situated right next to a brand-new police station, he also demanded more protection there.
According to witnesses, there was no security present when the event occurred.
According to Mr. Peak, there have been several instances of employees at this store being humiliated and assaulted.
Bring back the security personnel so that individuals do not believe they can get away with such heinous behavior.
