Today, Global Resources International and its Advanced Products Solutions subsidiary announced intentions to expand in the neighbouring city of Columbia with the creation of 10 new positions, as well as to hire 100 new employees at the APS medical manufacturing facility in Dothan.
The expansion project was announced by GRI less than two years ago for the APS factory in Dothan, which makes injection-molded medical devices, engineered textiles, and personal protective equipment.
The investment of $9.5 million was expected to generate 70 new employment.
According to the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, APS will be able to increase the emphasis on its medical product line with a focus on the human and animal health industries as a result of the recruiting surge at the Dothan factory.
According to the Chamber, APS will spend over $1.8 million in Columbia on a facility that primarily focuses on sterilising medical supplies.

The extra 110 positions in Houston County will begin to be filled over the course of the next ninety days, according to Mark Fellows, vice president of GRI-APS.
Greg Canfield, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce, said that “these expansion plans by Global Resources International and Advanced Product Solutions mark a major advancement for the Wiregrass area.”
The GRI-APS presence in the Wiregrass will be cemented by this development, which will also improve local manufacturing of urgently needed goods for consumers in Alabama and throughout the country.

Mark Saliba, the mayor of Dothan, and Mark Culver, the chairman of the Houston County Commission, hailed GRI-sustained APS’s commitment and praised them for being “great examples of community business partners” in a joint statement.
The GRI-APS project, according to Columbia Mayor Cas Haddock, is a “breath of fresh air” for the 800-person city in Houston County.
He said, “We are delighted that they choose Columbia, Alabama, for this complex operation.

GRI is a privately owned manufacturing and supply business with its headquarters in Flowery Branch, Georgia. It specialises in the design, production, sterilisation, and distribution of goods for the health care, industrial, and animal care industries.

The initiative received backing from a large coalition of local and state organisations.
These include Southeast AlabamaWorks, the Governor’s Office, the Alabama Department of Commerce, AIDT, the state’s main agency for workforce development.
The project was also supported by Dothan Utilities, Alabama Municipal Electric Authority, Southeast Gas, the Town of Columbia, the City of Dothan, Houston County Commission, the Industrial Development Board of Dothan, the Dothan Chamber of Commerce, and the Grow Dothan development team.
