Wynonna Judd anticipated that travelling without her late mother would evoke a variety of emotions, but she did not anticipate that it would also aid her in overcoming her grief.
Judd’s mother, Naomi Judd, committed herself on April 30 at the age of 76, following a lengthy battle with mental illness.
Award-winning duo The Judds, consisting of Wynonna and Naomi, had scheduled their final tour before to Naomi’s passing, and Wynonna chose to finish it without her mother.
Judd, 58, told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve had an incredible, incredible opportunity to heal through all of this, to cry and to say things onstage that I’ll never say again.”

A few weeks following Naomi’s passing, the Judds were scheduled to go on their final tour, the first in a decade.
Judd previously disclosed that she “lost it” during tour rehearsals without her mother.

Originally, “The Judds: The Final Tour” consisted of 11 dates and began in October; however, she has added a second leg of 13 dates that will begin on January 26 and feature Tanya Tucker, Little Big Town, Brandi Carlile, Martina McBride, Ashley McBryde, and Kelsea Ballerini as special guests.
Judd confessed that extending the tour was a very simple decision because it has been a “amazing healing experience.”
It cured me. Indeed, it did. It healed me, which I did not anticipate. “I went out on tour with a full heart for the fans and a broken heart for my own experience,” she stated.
On October 7, 2015, Naomi and Wynonna Judd debuted their nine-show residency “Girls Night Out” at The Venetian in Las Vegas.
“All of a sudden, it just knocks you over because the support and love was so strong at times,” she said. “I actually had to sit down because it was so overwhelming, and people thought something was wrong.” It literally knocked me on my rear end.
She added that she anticipated the tour to be more of a “memorial” for her mother than a musical performance.
The live performances are being filmed for a documentary, which has helped Judd understand how many individuals may relate to her tale.

“I’ve literally had people approach me and say, ‘My mother committed suicide, and I’m here because I’m feeling every word you say.’” And when they say that, I am at a loss for words, brother. “It is extremely profound and personal,” she revealed. “Either their mother has died or something tragic has occurred in their family, and this is nearly a 12-step meeting. This is not mere entertainment. It helps a great number of people.”
Even while travelling has aided Judd in her grief process, she still feels upset after leaving the stage.
“When you’re so heartbroken that you can’t think clearly, you do the next right thing, which for me is frequently singing. And that is what keeps me going,” she remarked. “And boy, oh boy, did I feel like I was surrounded by guardian angels! It was so spiritually intense for me that it would take me hours and hours and hours to decompress after leaving the stage.
