Three years after a prohibition on flights between South Africa and Madagascar, Airlink will soon restart operations between the two countries.
Following the relaxation of Madagascar’s Covid-19 travel restrictions and its prohibition on flights to and from South Africa, this service has resumed.
Rodger Foster, CEO and managing director of Airlink, commented that the company is pleased that the Madagascar government has lifted the restriction allowing them to resume these flying flights.
“As the designated South African carrier to Madagascar, Airlink welcomes the Madagascar government’s lifting of the ban, which allows us to re-establish these vital economic, trade, and tourism connections between the two countries,” Foster said.
He continued, “We look forward to reconnecting South Africa and Madagascar and resuming our role in supporting the restoration of ties between the two markets.”
The airline also stated that South Africa is a significant source market and supply chain connection for the commercial and leisure tourism sectors in Madagascar.
Airlink has increased their flight frequency to St Helena to weekly.
WHEN DO FLIGHTS BEGIN?
