Actor Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have lowered the price of their Amagansett farmhouse in the Hamptons, New York, to $22.5 million from its original asking price of $29 million in June 2021.
The couple spent the pandemic with their six children in the traditional two-story home, which Baldwin purchased for $1.75 million in 1996 and expanded to 10,000 square feet. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, two powder rooms, a wood-paneled library, and a screening room.
The property overlooks an agricultural reserve on 10 acres of land and comes with a custom pavilion, a pool, a spa, and a vegetable garden.
There are different legends surrounding the origin of the house.
One story says it was built in 1753 as a small “saltbox” and was converted into a larger home in the 1790s before being moved to its current location.
Then in 1913, architect Joseph Greenleaf Thorp, known for his work on Grey Gardens, remodeled it.
However, developer Jeffrey Collé, who restored the home for Baldwin, claimed that it was completed between 1697 and 1792 and was moved across frozen fields by oxen in 1756.
The current listing states that the home’s origin dates back to 1740.
The listing brokers for the property at 335 Town Lane Road are Scott Bradley and Michael Cinque of Saunders & Associates.
Last month, New Mexico prosecutors reduced the charges against Baldwin to involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust” in October 2021.
