The position of Public Guardian and Chief Executive of the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) will be filled by Amy Holmes, who is presently the Domestic Affairs Director in the Economic and Domestic Secretariat of the Cabinet Office, in the autumn.
She won the position in a free and open competition, and the Deputy Prime Minister has confirmed her appointment.
Second Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Justice and CEO of HM Prison & Probation Service Jo Farrar said:
“Amy will be joining us in the crucial position of Public Guardian and CEO of the OPG, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Amy will lead the OPG’s ambitious objectives to enhance and modernise its services by bringing a wealth of knowledge from a distinguished career in government. When Amy starts her job later this year, I can’t wait to welcome her.
Until Amy joins the organisation in the fall, Stuart Howard will remain in his position as OPG’s Interim Public Guardian.
Thereafter, he will resume his duties as the organization’s Head of Legal and Information Assurance.
