APC NWC Initiates Steps for New Officer Ratification
The leadership under the guidance of Abdullahi Ganduje within the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee (APC-NWC) has embarked on a process to secure the endorsement of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in order to validate the newly appointed officers for the NWC.
Nomination Process Underway
Reports indicate that the leadership of the party has received a compilation of nominations from the state party chapters, aligning with the directives presented to the NWC during the last NEC meeting held at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja a week ago.
Resignations and Nominations
During this transitional phase, the APC Vice Chairman (Northwest), Saliu Lukman, and Legal Adviser, Ahmad El-Marzup, tendered their resignations. Additionally, two NWC members, Senator Abubakar Kyari and Dr. Beta Edu, were put forward as ministerial nominees by President Bola Tinubu, while another member passed away.
Awaiting Ratification: New Appointees
Pending the approval of the National Executive Committee (NEC), a series of new officers await ratification.
The list includes Dr. Stella Odey-Ekpo, a former Cross River State Commissioner for Local Government (Women Leader); Ali Dalori, Chairman of Borno State APC (Deputy National Chairman, North); Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, former Nasarawa State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice (Legal Adviser); Martins Azubuike, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly (Welfare Officer); and Yahaya Ismail, former Special Adviser on Water Resources to the Kogi State Governor (Deputy National Publicity Secretary).
Aligned with NEC Directive
This decision to fill the vacancies corresponds with the directive issued by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
Tentative Appointments and Future Steps
A source within the party clarified that the provided names are subject to potential change and are awaiting the approval of the NWC and subsequent submission to the NEC.
The source dispelled the notion of a mini-convention, affirming that the official inauguration of the new officers would take place after receiving the NEC’s nod.
The APC’s internal restructuring efforts highlight the party’s commitment to maintaining functional leadership.
The process of nomination, resignation, and potential appointments underscores the intricate procedures involved in such political transitions.
The emphasis on NEC’s endorsement underscores the party’s adherence to its own hierarchical protocols.
