Explosions were heard in the Dniprovskiy neighborhood of the Ukrainian capital as a result of a Saturday early Russian missile strike, according to a top presidential official and other sources.
A series of explosions were heard by Reuters journalists in Kiev prior to the sounding of an air raid siren in Kiev. Officials advised citizens to seek refuge.
“Missile attack on sites of vital infrastructure. “Details are being examined,” stated Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy chief of staff to the president.
The military administration of Kiev reported that an infrastructure site had been attacked, but did not specify which.
“Explosions in the district of Dniprovsky. All agencies traveling to the location. Keep your shelters!” Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kiev, sent a Telegram.
He stated that missile debris landed in a non-residential section of the Holosiivskiy neighborhood in western Kyiv.
Since October, Russia has bombarded Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure with missiles and drones, resulting in widespread outages and delays to central heating and running water as winter approaches.
