Australian of the Year, Grace Tame, unveils her written memoir

Grace Tame, the former Australian of the Year, has unveiled the cover of her book, which she says she designed with a “cheapo $1 pen from Woolies.”

The book, titled The Ninth Life of a Diamond Miner, will be released on September 27th, according to Tame.

Tame’s outstanding drawing talents, on the other hand, astounded her fans.
Two self-portraits of Tame are encircled by a woven network of plants and animals, including mushrooms, spiders, wolves, a skull, and vines, in this elaborate artwork.

‘Go on, I’m ready for the two-headed Tasmanian jokes,’ she joked. ‘GRACE! You drew that????’ Australian comedian Kirsty Webeck responded underneath the post announcing the publication. ‘You can get more out of a $1 biro than I can get out of an iPhone camera,’ one person said.

‘Puts my stick figure drawings to shame,’ another wrote. Fellow activist Georgie Dent also shared her support for Tame’s new book.

‘I can’t begin to imagine the grief, trauma & heartache this project exacted from a young woman during an extraordinarily difficult chapter,’ she said.

‘I have no doubt it’s a book that will change lives.’

‘In 2021 Grace stepped squarely into the public eye as the Australian of the Year, and was the catalyst for a tidal wave of conversation and action,’ the book’s description reads.

‘Australians from all walks of life were inspired and moved by her fire and passion. Here she was using her voice, and encouraging others to use theirs too.

‘The Ninth Life of a Diamond Miner is Grace’s story, in Grace’s words, on Grace’s terms. Like Grace, it is sharply intelligent, deeply felt and often blisteringly funny.’

The hardcover copy of the book is expected to sell for $49.99 and the ebook for $12.99.
