Baz Luhrmann has paid tribute to Lisa Marie Presley following her tragic passing on Thursday at the age of 54.
The director of “Elvis” posted a touching comment on Instagram about the tragic news, describing her passing as “shocking.”
“Over the past year, the entire Elvis movie family and I have enjoyed Lisa Marie’s gracious embrace,” the Australian actor posted on Instagram to his 250,000 fans.
“Her unexpected, terrible death has affected people all across the world. I am certain that her followers throughout the world join me in sending prayers of love and support to her mother, Priscilla, and her three beautiful daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper.”
“We will miss your warmth, smile, and love, Lisa Marie,” the director of “Moulin Rouge” and “The Great Gatsby” said.
Austin Butler, who portrayed Lisa Marie’s deceased father Elvis Presley in Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic, has also expressed his condolences in response to the news.
“My heart is completely broken for Riley, Finley, Harper, and Priscilla as a result of Lisa Marie’s tragic and unexpected death,” Butler told The Post in a statement.
“I am always grateful for the time I had the good fortune to be in her bright light’s presence, and I will always remember the calm moments we spent. Her genuineness, warmth, and love will forever be remembered.”
According to TMZ sources, Lisa Marie died after her heart stopped twice, causing doctors to declare her brain dead.
The singer and her mother, Priscilla, 77, attended the Golden Globes on Tuesday to see Butler, 31, win for his portrayal of the “Blue Suede Shoes” singer.
Butler stated in his award speech, “Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I will love you forever.”
The only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley appeared shaky on her feet in footage recorded away from the paparazzi that evening. Additionally, she spoke more slowly than normal during pre-show interviews.
Lisa Marie raved about Butler’s Golden Globes red carpet performance, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it.”
She continued, “I had to take about five days to process it because it was so incredible, so accurate, and so genuine that I can’t even explain what it meant.”
Lisa Marie is survived by her twin daughters, Harper and Finley Lockwood, ages 14, and her 33-year-old daughter, Riley Keough. She will be interred alongside her late son Benjamin Keough at Graceland, her father’s vast Memphis home.
