President Joe Biden warned on Thursday evening that Vladimir Putin was not joking about using nuclear weapons in Ukraine, and that for the first time since the Cuban missile crisis, the world faced the possibility of Armageddon.
At a Democratic fundraising gathering held at the New York residence of James Murdoch, son of media magnate Rupert Murdoch, he issued his warning.
It comes amid rising concerns that Putin is cornered and may employ tactical nuclear weapons to halt the advance of Ukrainian forces.
At the reception for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, he remarked, “We’ve got a person I know reasonably well.”
