A Comanchero biker who had crossed over from the Rebels, a rival criminal group, was discovered dead at a five-star resort in Western Australia.
Around 12.10 p.m. on Saturday, Jason Kemp was found floating face down in the private pool of a property at The Pearle of Cable Beach.
Emergency personnel were alerted and sent to the scene, but Kemp, who was in his late 30s, was unable to be revived; WA investigators are now looking into how he passed away.
He and his girlfriend had been staying at the five-star hotel next to the well-known tourist beach in Broome, Western Australia.
The West Australian adds that while the cause of his death is unknown, police are now treating it as an accident and murder investigators are not engaged.
However, the mansion remained surrounded by police tape on Sunday as detectives worked to figure out what transpired.
It is believed that Kemp joined the Comanchero criminal motorcycle organization in the middle of 2021.
He was an official member of the Rebels prior to that.
After being brutally attacked by a fellow Rebel in May of that year within Casurina Prison in Western Australia, the switch—generally seen as a serious offense in bikie circles—took place.
Kemp, who was doing time for drug and traffic offenses, had serious brain injuries that necessitated a protracted hospital stay.
According to WA Police, the assault was the consequence of a disagreement between the two club members and was unrelated to hostilities surrounding the killing of Rebels manager Nick Martin many months previously.
At the Kwinana motorsport facility, Martin was shot and killed by a sniper. A former soldier connected to the global mercenary organization Shadows of Hope eventually admitted culpability.
In pictures he put online by July 2021, Kemp had begun to cover off his prominent Rebels forearm tattoo.
Later that month, he uploaded a picture of his forearm with the word “Comanchero” inscribed over the previous tattoo.
Kemp has a protracted criminal record.
He was sentenced to prison in 2017 for holding his ex-girlfriend and her mother at gunpoint after a four-hour standoff with police, in addition to driving-related offenses, including reckless driving to avoid a police chase.
Before his most recent jail sentence, state prosecutor Jason Chu said, “It’s truly rather surprising that he’s been permitted in the community for this long.”
