In the 1970s, Idol began his illustrious music career as a guitarist for the punk rock band Chelsea. He left shortly thereafter and instead founded Generation X with his old bandmate and bassist Tony James.
The band issued a total of three albums: “Generation X” in 1978, “Valley of the Dolls” in 1979, and “Kiss Me Deadly” in 1981, before disbanding the same year.
