Blake Shelton is set to leave “The Voice” after the current season, and Adam Levine has finally spoken up about his departure.
In October, Shelton announced that this season would be his last, and Levine recently commented to “Entertainment Tonight” at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, saying, “It’s about time!”
Shelton, 46, and Levine, 43, were both original members of the NBC reality show’s coaching panel, alongside Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. Levine left the singing competition after Season 16 in 2019, leaving Shelton as the only remaining original coach.
For nearly two decades, Levine and Shelton sat across from each other as coaches, engaging in friendly rivalry and banter.
Since Levine’s departure, Kelly Clarkson, 40, has assumed the role of the coach who clashes with the country music star.
Clarkson mentioned to “ET” that while she would be happy for Shelton if he wins in his last season, she is also trying to win herself.
Shelton announced his decision to leave “The Voice” in an Instagram post, expressing his gratitude for the 12-year experience and thanking everyone involved in the show.
Having appeared in all 23 consecutive seasons since the show’s premiere in 2011, Shelton has won nine times, supporting his teams of singers.
“The Voice” airs on NBC at 8 p.m. ET on Monday and Tuesday nights and is streamed on Peacock. The Season 23 coaches include Shelton, Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Chance The Rapper.
