According to the Nigerian Tribune, Senate President Ahmad Lawan praised Governor Emmanuel on his efforts during a thanksgiving service on Sunday, January 30, after launching certain projects in the state.
Lawan stated that the Senate requires leaders such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor to move the country ahead.
As a result, he urged Governor Emmanuel to join the red chamber when his term expires in 2023.

Udom Emmanuel Is Being Urged To Declare For President In 2023
For Friday, January 7, some Nigerians called on Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom to run for president in 2023 in order to imitate his industrialization agenda and use his inventive financial and economic brilliance to save the Nigerian economy.

He explained that, in addition to connecting all local government areas with access roads, including neighbouring states, his administration has expanded on his predecessors’ vision of developing the MRO of the Ibom International Airport to allow all aircraft on the African continent to be serviced, maintained, and overhauled in Akwa Ibom.
According to the governor, his administration is looking beyond oil, which is why he is currently testing a multi- million dollar coconut refinery in the state. He also stated that five foreign countries are currently in Akwa Ibom to study the idea, technology, and expertise in order to replicate it in their home country.
He explained that, despite the price of crude oil per barrel on the international energy market, a litre of virgin coconut costs $6, implying that coconut oil is more expensive and profitable than crude. He added that this is another way his administration is diversifying both the state’ s economy and revenue profile.
He also stated that his administration has made an interest- free loan of N2 billion available to market women, with the objective of increasing the amount to make it a revolving loan to boost the growth of small enterprises in the state.
Governor Emmanuel Issues a Warning Against Violence Ahead Of The 2023 Elections
In a related event, Governor Emmanuel has encouraged all aspirants in the state seeking electoral posts in 2023 to resist the temptation to use violence as a political instrument to gain power.
The governor stated that the electorate in Akwa Ibom, which has witnessed peace for the previous six years, is ready to reject any candidate who attempts to undermine the state’ s current tranquilly.
He warned those seeking political office in 2023 not to inflame the polity, but rather to go about it calmly so as not to damage the state’ s peace and progress, adding that God will reveal his successor in due time.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Governor Emmanuel on being named one of Africa’ s 100 most inspiring people in the 2021 African Regional Awards.
According to the PDP, the governor’ s award by the African Regional Journal is a well- deserved and resounding testimonial to his unique leadership abilities and praiseworthy achievements in all vital sectors.
