Boris Johnson nominates his father for a knighthood

According to reports, Boris Johnson has nominated his father, Stanley Johnson, for a knighthood as part of his resignation honours list. The former prime minister, who left office in September 2021, is said to have put forward the nomination for his father.

However, a spokesperson for Boris Johnson declined to comment on the matter.

If Stanley Johnson is indeed granted an honour, it could raise questions about potential cronyism by the former Conservative leader. In 2020, Boris Johnson faced allegations of cronyism when he nominated his brother, Jo Johnson, for a peerage.

Additionally, in 2021, a senior Tory MP, Caroline Nokes, accused Stanley Johnson of touching her inappropriately at the Conservative Party conference in 2003.

She claimed that he forcefully smacked her on the backside and made a vulgar comment. Stanley Johnson denied any recollection of the incident.

Social media has heavily criticized the reports of Stanley Johnson’s potential knighthood nomination. Some users have questioned why he is being nominated and called for an end to the Honours System if the nomination is approved.
