A Brandeis University undergraduate was identified as the person killed in a shuttle bus crash near the university that left 27 other students injured on Sunday.
The Waltham Police Department reported that 25-year-old Vanessa Mark died after the bus carrying the group back to campus from a hockey game at Northeastern University collided with a tree and rolled over multiple times.
While Vanessa was on leave, she resided in Waltham and was a valued member of the Brandeis community, university president Ron Liebowitz wrote in a letter to the school community.
Monday and Tuesday courses were postponed at Brandeis, enabling students to digest the tragedy with their families before Thanksgiving.
The institution said that additional support for students remaining on campus will be made accessible throughout the week.
Officials have not disclosed the reason of the Waltham bus accident or the severity of the injuries sustained.

In a statement, the institution said that 17 of the injured students had been discharged from the hospital, while the remaining pupils continued to get care.
The bus was captured on camera standing erect in a residential area surrounded by scattered wreckage.
The footage shows that the bus’s roof was severely damaged and numerous windows were shattered.
Other footage showed injured individuals being treated, with some being transported on stretchers.

The bus was pulled away from the accident site around 6 a.m., more than seven hours after the collision occurred.
The reason of the accident is being investigated. There have been no charges filed.
