A irate neighbor who wrote a highly scary note informed a cat owner that her pet will “disappear” if she doesn’t keep it locked up inside.
The woman from Brisbane uploaded a photo of the handwritten note to Reddit, asking for guidance on how to keep her rescued cat indoors.
She revealed that a conflict had begun with her neighbor after her cat entered their yard and began fighting with the neighbor’s cat.
She stated, “I was mortified and regretful and immediately removed the cat flap from the back door and replaced the door so she can’t get out, but a handyman left the garage door open and she crept out.”
After her cat escaped for the second time, she was given a message that stated, “Control your animals or they will vanish!”

The woman expressed frustration that her neighbor had sent such a “abusive” letter without first approaching her.
“The difficulty is that our property has casement windows and young children, and I’m constantly nagging them about closing windows and not leaving doors open,” she said, seeking opinions on whether a digital fence would be effective.
She stated that she kept her cat indoors as much as possible, but the animal frequently “escapes.”
The owner stated, “Their cat has also been on our side of the road, so it’s a bit hypocritical to call the pot black.”
“The neighbors that complained to ME have enormous aggressive dogs who jump up on their fence and go crazy whenever someone passes, and we live just across from a children’s park.”

Many pointed out that cats are notorious for killing native wildlife and argued the woman had a duty to keep her pet indoors.
Cats kill for amusement, not for food, and a single cat can annihilate the local animals. People who are aware of how damaging cats can be have practiced keeping cats indoors for a long time, stated one individual.
Take the cat back to a home where it can stay inside and not go around upsetting people and killing wildlife, urged another.
Consider it seriously. My family received a letter and our cat “disappeared.” Try to adjust whatever the cat is doing,’ one person wrote.
In the previous six months, one man captured five cats in a trap on his property and delivered them to the pound.
Others were more understanding of the cat lover’s dilemma.
People who threaten or commit animal cruelty are slime. Literal human waste. No excuse,’ one said.
“I believe you’re acting appropriately. I would have been humiliated to receive such a letter.
“You’re doing a fantastic job, and honestly, your neighbor should be keeping their cat inside as well? Accidents occur; what matters is the quality of your work,’ noted another.
Cats that are kept outside must be microchipped and confined according to the standards of the Brisbane City Council.
