King Charles’ first speech sparked an emotional outcry among the populace of the UK in homes, streets, and bars.
Following the passing of his mother, the Queen, at Balmoral yesterday at the age of 96, in a “peaceful” manner, the speech was the King’s first broadcast address to the country.
In a homage to his “loving mother,” King Charles III praised her as “an inspiration and an example to me and to all my family.”
All throughout the nation, Britons tuned in to hear the new King speak, and St. Paul’s Cathedral aired the poignant address during a prayer and contemplation session.
A Twitter user named @SeagullRichard said that he was placing flowers for the Queen in St. Albans while also listening to the King’s speech.
He was one of many who were moved by the speech and said that although he had “not wept till now,” hearing Charles speak had caused him to “suddenly sob like a torrent.”

In his speech King Charles spoke directly to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, saying he wished to ‘send my love to Harry and Meghan’.
He also announced that he had made his son William the Prince of Wales, as Kate becomes the Princess of Wales.
He ended with another tribute to his mother, saying: ‘And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you.
‘Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years.
‘May ‘flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.’
