Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, proposed issuing sovereign green bonds to raise funds as part of the government’s borrowing agenda on Tuesday.
She stated that capital expenditures were increased by 35.4 percent to Rs 7.5 lakh crore in FY23.
In 2022-23, effective capital expenditure will be Rs 10.68 lakh crore, or 4.1 percent of GDP, according to the finance minister, who added that public investment must lead the way in order to boost prime private investment and support demand.
The finance minister also stated that a world-class university will be allowed to operate free of domestic restrictions at the GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) IFSC (International Financial Services Centre).
International arbitration centre will also be set up in GIFT city to provide faster dispute resolution, she added.
