2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Officially Confirms Dates in Ivory Coast
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the dates for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
This will be the 34th edition of the tournament, and it will feature Africa’s best 24 nations.
Opening Match and Conclusion
The tournament is set to commence on Saturday, 13 January 2024, at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
It will run for four weeks and officially conclude on 11 February 2024.
Previous Edition in Ivory Coast
This will be the second time Ivory Coast hosts the tournament, with the first being in 1984, where Cameroon emerged as winners for the first time.
Qualifiers Update
As the AFCON 2023 qualifiers are coming to a close, the road to Ivory Coast is shaping up.
After the recent round of qualifiers, four countries have secured their place in the competition, joining hosts Ivory Coast.
These countries are Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, and African champions, Senegal.
Final Draw
The final draw for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 is set to take place in September 2023, with the date and venue to be confirmed in due course.
