Two days after a man’s body was discovered on the side of a busy Sydney highway, the dashcam of a passing truck driver revealed his presence.

Wednesday afternoon, the body of David Howard was discovered by the Hume Highway near Campbelltown, in the city’s southwest.

Emergency personnel made the discovery after blocking all northbound lanes at 1 p.m. and conducting a search in response to a truck driver’s complaint of a possible tragic accident.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the trucker discovered after reviewing the vehicle’s video footage that it was likely a person.

In the meantime, Mr. Howard has been remembered as “one of the good ones” by his loved ones.

Robbie Gordon, his cousin, posted on Facebook, “We’re all going to miss you; the family is trying to hold it together, but we’re all sad.”

Five kilometers of traffic were backed up while police combed the busy highway.

The search caused traffic delays along the Hume Highway as motorists slowed to a crawl for many hours, with five-kilometer-long lines forming at certain locations.

Due to the operation, all northbound lanes and on-ramps from Narellan Road were closed.

Due to’very high’ traffic, motorists were asked to avoid the area or allow for additional travel time.

The investigation continues, and a report for the coroner will be compiled.
