Cape Town Police Officers Appear In Court Over Bribe Collection From Nude Couple

On Thursday, 17 February, two police officers from the Cape Town Central station appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on corruption charges after reportedly attempting to accept a bribe from a naked couple near Table Mountain.
Sergeants Lundi Meti, 38, and Moenieb Rhoda, 47, were arrested on Wednesday by members of the police anti-corruption unit after they reportedly sought to extort members of the public on December 14, 2021.
“It is reported that the suspects approached a couple romancing in their vehicle on Table Mountain Road.
“The pair was charged with public indecency and had to pay a fine to avoid arrest,” said SAPS spokeswoman Sergeant Siyabonga Dyantyi.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said Rhoda and Meti both face a single count of corruption.
The pair was released on R3000 bail each.
Their next court appearance is expected on 13 April 2022 as the matter was postponed for further investigation.
