Former presenter of ITV’s daytime talk show Loose Women, Carol McGiffin, has criticised the show for promoting “woke views” to its audience.

Speaking to Dan Wootton on GB News, McGiffin claimed that Loose Women had “gone very, very woke” and that she had received feedback from viewers echoing her sentiment.

She also claimed that such content was not only prevalent on ITV but on the BBC as well.

McGiffin recently stepped down from her position on the show, citing the environment as no longer fitting for her.

The comments come after McGiffin stepped back from the show amid a dispute over her comments on Covid.

An ITV spokesperson has declined to comment on individual contracts, but they did say that any Covid-related theories discussed by McGiffin were her personal opinions and did not represent the views of ITV.

The spokesperson added that while they encourage free speech, the network is fully committed to responsible broadcasting and adhering to the Ofcom code.

A source close to the show echoed the sentiment, saying that any theories discussed by McGiffin outside of ITV were not broadcast as part of Loose Women.
