On the 21st anniversary of the New York firefighter’s death after the September 11 terrorist attacks, Pete Davidson’s younger sister wrote a heartfelt ode to the couple’s late father in a post on social media on Sunday.
Casey Davidson, 25, paid tribute to her father, Scott Davidson, who tragically died on September 11, 2001, after rushing selflessly into the Twin Towers while she was just three years old.
She shared several pictures of her and her father, 21 years after his untimely death, and she also celebrated the legacy of the Staten Island man.
When Scott and five other firemen from Brooklyn Heights’ Ladder Company 118 rushed over the Brooklyn Bridge to the collapsed towers to rescue the hundreds of office employees and hotel guests inside, they were 33 years old.
Just 17 minutes after the first jet struck at 9:03 am, Scott’s party was last seen sprinting up the stairs of the Marriott World Trade Center Hotel in building 3 of the WTC complex.
Moments thereafter, the buildings tragically fell, destroying the hotel and abandoning the six firemen to their doom.
Both of the brothers have expressed how deeply impacted by their father’s untimely loss they were. Pete, who just ended his relationship with A-list ex Kim Kardashian and quit Saturday Night Live, said that Scott’s death was the catalyst for his prior problems with depression and suicide.
paying respects Casey, who is four years younger than her comic brother, said on Sunday that she was happy to be his daughter and that she still mourned her father more than 20 years after his passing.
Casey said in the touching post tribute, which was accompanied by three images of Scott while he was a fireman, “This year more than ever I want you could be here.” We celebrate you, we miss you, and we think of you every day.
Sadistically, she said, “Proud to be your Caseygirl.”
The first image published featured Scott, a native of Staten Island whose longtime ambition was to become a fireman, wearing sunglasses and dressed as a ladderman with the Brooklyn Bridge in the backdrop.
The second image depicts Scott holding Casey, who was still a little child, while sporting the symbol of Ladder Company 118 on his shirt.
In the third image, Scott is seen slinging his fireman’s jacket over the shoulders of a young Pete, who is grinning as his father tries to fasten the bulky attire.
Casey also shared a picture from the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York on her Instagram Story to honour her deceased father, who is listed on a plaque there among the other 3,000 people who perished that awful day in 2001.
Casey was not quite old enough for preschool when her father passed away, while her elder brother Pete was just seven.
Casey, who is pursuing a career in medicine, completed the physician assistant programme at Pace University and Lennox Hill Hospital earlier this year.
While Pete, who supposedly inherited his late father’s sense of humour, has lately made headlines for his break-up with ex-girlfriend Kardashian, he had already announced in May that he was quitting his lengthy position at Saturday Night Live after eight years on the programme.
Fans were stunned by Davidson’s 28-year-old choice, and many of them wondered whether it had anything to do with his well-known battles with bad mental health.
His problems initially became apparent in 2016, he said, when he started experiencing fits of extreme wrath that would rapidly pass and leave the comic forgetting what had occurred.
Davison has freely acknowledged that he was also going through periods of extreme depression at the time, which he has mostly blamed on the passing of his fireman father Scott.
Davidson said that after seeking treatment, he was eventually identified as having bipolar disorder; nonetheless, he claimed that despite stopping marijuana and taking the recommended medicine, his condition at the time kept getting worse.
Davidson was finally identified by his therapist as having borderline personality disorder (BPD) in 2017, when he was 23. BPD is characterised by a history of unstable personal relationships, a lack of confidence, and a fear of abandonment.
Davidson said that the diagnosis transformed his life in an interview conducted immediately after.
In an interview with actress Glenn Close for Variety magazine’s Actors On Acting, Davidson said, “I was diagnosed with BPD a few years ago, and I was always just so confused all the time, and just felt something was wrong, and didn’t know how to cope with it.”
Then, when someone finally tells you, it seems like a burden has been lifted off your shoulders. You feel a lot better now.
Davidson has his father’s badge number, 8418, tattooed on his left arm. He is widely known for his many tattoos and history of high-profile love relationships.
Since then, he has acknowledged that the loss of his father has made it very difficult for him to trust others. Despite his tight relationships with his mother and sister, he has found it difficult to learn to trust others.
“Trust is my huge issue,” he said. “[My father] was here one day and gone the next,” the speaker said.
When he joined the NBC comedy series for its 40th season, Davidson was comparatively unknown, but his popularity has grown as a result of his entertaining love life.
In addition to dining, vacationing, and making love to Kardashian over the past year, he also appeared to be engaged in a social media spat with her ex-husband, Kayne West.
At the age of 20, Davidson became a featured player on SNL in 2014. He hasn’t disclosed his future ambitions, although he has been putting a lot of effort into the film and television industries.
The comedian has just released a comedy special on Netflix, in which he often discusses his then-ongoing romance with reality star Kardashian, who was his first love after brief relationships with celebrities like Ariana Grande, Kim Beckinsale, and Kaia Gerber.
Davidson also said that he is developing a television programme called Bupkis that would provide a “raw, uncompromising, fictitious” account of his true life.
Along with Davidson, SNL performers Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney all departed the programme. Davidson said that he did so in order to concentrate on other aspects of his life and his developing profession.
Scott Davidson’s “acts of heroism” on the day of the September 11 terrorist attacks were “not unexpected,” according to his biography on the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which also notes that “he was a courageous and fearless guy and a committed American.”
The 33-year-old father’s longtime desire was to become a fireman, and the obituary further states that Pete and Casey were the two things that meant the most to him. It further states that he was happiest coaching Pete on the baseball and football fields and attending his daughter’s dance recitals.
It says that “He was extremely proud of them and he was happiest when guiding them” or “viewing a dance presentation.”
He mentored his son Peter in baseball and football, and Casey was unquestionably a “Daddy’s Girl.” Above all else, he adored his kids.
