A prominent Chinese dissident criticized President Biden for his “weak” response to the anti-government demonstrations presently raging in the communist nation.
Chen Guangcheng, a blind lawyer and human rights campaigner, told The Post that he believes Biden is still too soft on China and that he hasn’t dealt with the CCP with enough force. “Much more work is required.”
The remarks come at a time when China has been racked by unrest for weeks in reaction to their increasingly severe COVID lockdowns.
“I feel that the West must make a far greater declaration of support for the Chinese people. This will reduce the likelihood of a violent crackdown, since the [Chinese Communist Party] is extremely anxious about reactions from the outside world. Numerous US officials have issued remarks, but we have yet to hear from the president.
China has had significant unrest against their COVID protocols.
Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden, has spent years conducting business in China, usually alongside partners with close links to the country’s communist government. Long ago, Republicans investigating the first son hypothesized that the president may be tainted by his son’s questionable business practices.
Chen’s condemnation is similar to that of Republicans such as Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, who has asked Biden to criticize the CCP.
Cotton stated, “Everyone understands that these spontaneous demonstrations of the Chinese people are not only about COVID policies, but also about their desire for freedom, and they are eager to hear from America — the leader of the free world — that we support their innermost ambitions.”
However, the White House has thus far delivered a weak statement in support of China’s demonstrators.
“We’ve maintained for a long time that everyone has the right to demonstrate peacefully, both in the United States and across the world. This includes [China],” the text stated.
Chen was a thorn in the side of China’s officials for years due to his vocal lobbying on behalf of women compelled to undergo abortions during the decades-long one-child policy.
In 2012, he escaped house detention in the Shandong Province in central China and sought refuge at the US Embassy in Beijing. Presently, he resides outside of Washington, D.C.
Some believe that Joe Biden is tainted by his son Hunter’s dubious business connections in China.

Chen was granted refuge in the United States and a post as a visiting scholar at New York University. Later, he was expelled, which Chen and others attributed to Chinese pressure on NYU’s expansive campus in Shanghai. The institution refuted the allegation. Chen is a Distinguished Fellow at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. at now.
While residing in America, Chen’s political views drifted to the right. He is a former and continuing supporter of former President Trump, and he represented him at the 2020 Republican convention.
Chen stated that he has not taken a coronavirus vaccination and that he opposes several of the United States’ regulations.
The White House’s response to the protests has been muted thus far.
“I disagree vehemently with the mandatory coronavirus vaccination and the use of vaccine cards and vaccine passports to limit access or mobility or compel individuals to abandon their professions. These procedures are identical to those seen in totalitarian regimes, he said, adding that he is eagerly anticipating a House probe into the origins of the virus.
Chen became a naturalized citizen in July 2021, according to Voice of America.
