Christina Ricci talks about challenges faced as a child star and praises younger actors for having more agency in their work

Christina Ricci recently spoke about some of the challenges she faced as a child star and how younger actors now have more agency in their work.

During an appearance on “The View,” co-host Sara Haines asked Ricci about the differences between her experience and that of the younger cast members of her current show, “Yellowjackets.”

Ricci shared that she is happy to see that younger actors today are able to set boundaries for themselves and not have to go through the same difficult experiences that she and other child actors did.

She spoke about a time when she was threatened with a lawsuit for refusing to perform a sex scene in a certain way.

In a previous Actors on Actors conversation with Sydney Sweeney for Variety, Ricci had mentioned the same lawsuit incident.

Sweeney expressed shock and sympathy, but Ricci revealed that she didn’t end up doing the scene and wasn’t sued.

Despite the challenges she faced as a child actor, Ricci went on to have a successful career, starring in movies like “The Addams Family,” “Casper,” and “Now and Then.”

In “Yellowjackets,” she plays the elder version of Misty, while Sammi Hanratty plays the teenage role. The second season of the show is set to premiere on Showtime on March 24.
