Costeen Hatzi, the girlfriend of Australian tennis pro Nick Kyrgios, expressed her support for Kyrgios after he withdrew from this year’s Australian Open due to a knee injury. In a message shared on her Instagram story, Hatzi said she was “devastated” but that Kyrgios “needs to do what is right for his body.”
Kyrgios said he has been dealing with a cyst on a small tear in the meniscus of his left knee. He had been scheduled to play Russia’s Roman Safiullin the following day.
Both Kyrgios and Hatzi posted messages on social media about the withdrawal, with Kyrgios saying, “This one hurts, to all my fans, I will be back stronger” and Hatzi responding, “The comeback will be better than ever.” Hatzi has been a supportive presence at Kyrgios’s tournaments throughout the past year.
