»Damar Hamlin is discharged from the hospital following a heart arrest event«
Damar Hamlin returns home!
The Bills confirmed on Wednesday that the 24-year-old safety who fainted and suffered cardiac arrest during Monday night’s game against the Bengals has been released from the hospital.
The Bills tweeted, “Damar Hamlin has been released from Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, a Kaleida Health facility in Buffalo, NY.” Hamlin was admitted on Monday and underwent a thorough medical evaluation and a battery of cardiac, neurological, and vascular tests on Tuesday.
The Bills added a statement from the hospital’s Chief Quality Officer and critical care physician, Jamie Nadler, MD.
Dr. Nadler stated, “After completing a series of tests and evaluations and consulting with the team physicians, we are confident that Damar can be safely discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home and with the Bills.”
Hamlin collapsed on the field during the first quarter of last week’s game after a fairly routine tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He was provided CPR and shocked before being transferred by paramedics to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The game was canceled and declared a tie.
Last week, Hamlin’s first communication upon awakening was a written inquiry as to whether the Bills had won the game. The physicians replied that he had won the game of life.
Hamlin was transported from the hospital in Cincinnati to the hospital in Buffalo earlier this week.
