Danielle Miller, a self-proclaimed “con artist” and Instagram influencer from New York, has pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining over $1.5 million in government funds through stolen COVID-relief loans.
Miller swiped the identities of more than ten people to fund her luxurious lifestyle, which she bragged about on TikTok and Instagram, with over 34,000 followers.
She used the identities of her victims and fake business names to apply for loans handed out by the federal government between July 2020 and May 2021.
A February 2022 New York Magazine profile revealed Miller’s fraudulent activities. She shamelessly admitted to the magazine that she considered herself a con artist.
She was sentenced to state prison in Florida in October 2021 for another fraud case.
Despite this, Miller continued flushing her expensive purchases, including a private jet trip and a Rolls-Royce ride with a Louis Vuitton bag by her side.
Miller pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud and two counts of aggravated identity theft in a Massachusetts federal courtroom on Monday.
She appeared over video from a jail cell and agreed to give up $1.3 million and serve six years in prison in return for pleading guilty.
Her sentencing is scheduled for June 27. Prosecutors said Miller used forged driver’s licenses with her photo in victims’ names to carry out her scheme.
According to the US Government Accountability Office, Miller is one of more than 1,000 people convicted of defrauding COVID-19 relief programs.
