Daryl Sabara is sharing his sober experience after giving up both alcohol and marijuana.
The “Spy Kids” actor informed his wife Meghan Trainor on a recent edition of her “Working On It” podcast that his decision was influenced by a discussion with his therapist.
During an interview on January 18, the 30-year-old actor recalled that she suggested he pursue sobriety if he wished to be at his best. “I thought, ‘What the f—? Obviously, I want to be at my best.’”
Sabara was “inspired” by the interaction to “try this complete sobriety thing.”
He explained, “Even though marijuana isn’t really bad for me right now, I don’t need to continue experimenting with it until I’m in a bad place or in a bad state.”
The former “Ben 10” actor, who referred to marijuana as his “clutch,” stated that it was “harder” to refrain from smoking because there were no “consequences” for doing so.
Trainor, 29, concurred and said, “You’re great. I had a terrific time getting high with you nearby.
“I wasn’t like, ‘Ugh, you’re annoying,’” continued the singer of “All About That Bass.” “I thought to myself, ‘You’re a little puppy dog’”
Sabara commended Trainor for her assistance as he leads a “completely sober” lifestyle, citing solitude as his primary “trigger.”
He exclaimed, “You make me a better person, and I am grateful.”
In December 2022, while celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary through Instagram, Sabara referred to Trainor as “the sweetest, funniest, most beautiful and talented woman in the world.”
Since 2016, the pair has been dating and have a one-year-old kid named Riley.
Trainor has been outspoken about her desire to conceive a second child this year, telling People last month that having a large family is her “dream.”
The musician stated, “I’m attempting to have four children, so I need to get moving.”
