Despite the degree scandal, Sakaja has a 40% popularity rating in the City Hall race – TIFA

Sakaja, who has been at the center of controversy in recent days over the legitimacy of his degree certificate, has a 40 percent popularity rating according to opinion statistics.

The Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the Nairobi Senator to see if he graduated from Team University, a Ugandan university.

Even though the Senator claims to have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Management, the legitimacy of the degree certificate remains under dispute.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Dispute Tribunal approved the Senator to run for the Nairobi governor seat on Sunday.

Azimio gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe was polled second with an a approval rating of 32 percent.

“632 respondents were interviewed spread across the 17 constituencies,” the pollster said in their findings released on Tuesday.

Conversely, ODM and Azimio La Umoja are both more popular than their rivals, UDA and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

With a 46 percent approval rating, the Odinga-led alliance is the most popular, followed by the Kenya Kwanza Alliance with a 24 percent approval rating.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has a 30 percent approval rating, while the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has a 22 percent approval rating.

According to the poll results, Sakaja has more female fans, with 41% backing his campaign, whereas Igathe has just 24% female supporters in the County.

However, despite Sakaja’s dominance in the city, 36% of those questioned do not believe he has a real degree diploma.

In the Senatorial race, ODM’s Edwin Sifuna enjoys a commanding lead with an approval rating of 27 percent followed by UDA’s Bishop Margaret Wanjiru who has a rating of nine percent.

Esther Passaris of ODM and who belongs in the Azimio coalition is poised to retain her Woman Representative seat in the survey after she was found to have an approval rating of 32 percent.

Millicent Omanga from UDA was polled in at second with a rating of 19 percent.
